Painter, printmaker, illustrator and set designer, Marcel Vertes was born in Budapest, Hungary, where he lived until relocating to Paris during the First World War. He quickly established himself as a printmaker in the bohemian style as established by Toulouse-Lautrec, creating lithographs depicting 1920’s Parisian street scenes, portraits, and cabaret spectacle.
