This issue features an advertisement for a Halloween costume ball at the Hilton Hotel’s Continental Ballroom in San Francisco. Although police harassment at gay bars was a constant threat, this party at a very public venue demonstrates that members of the homosexual community were not content to live their lives in the shadows.
